Hello, Prem Phyak. Thanks for appreciating the study. Yes, you are right about ‘the model citizen signage’ where obeying COVID-SOPs such as wearing a mask represents “how social identities are changing and appropriated?”. As far as you question ‘is there any social meanings of the color of the masks?’ is concerned, I think the colour imagery might not symbolize anything here. However, we have been observing the different kinds of masks in terms of colours, designs and prints that are symbolic. For instance, public representative such as Prime Minister or President here in Pakistan usually wear masks having an imprinted Pakistani Flag over them representing patriotism, etc. Moreover, mask has definitely become a commodity these days. We have identified this aspect already where the famous brands in Pakistan have launched their own colourful mask in matching colours with the suits. It clearly shows how the idea of a mask has changed from ‘necessity to styles’. Looking forward to seeing you in the live session today.
